What Am I Feeling Right Now?

Being aware of your feelings is a very important aspect of successful, permanent weight loss. When we tell ourselves, we deserve a treat – be that a cookie, a coffee, a glass of wine, a chocolate bar, a piece of pizza or whatever, there is one or a combination of four things happening:

  1. It is simply a habit that needs breaking;
  2. We are overtired and need rest;
  3. Our blood sugar levels are out of wack and need leveling out;
  4. We are trying to distract ourselves from uncomfortable feelings that we don’t want to feel.

When you find yourself reaching for a “treat”, ask yourself: “What am I feeling right now?”

Believe it or not, one of our greatest stumbling blocks is trying too hard. We try very hard to make things happen the way we think they need to happen, when all we really need to do is stay present and be aware.

When we “try”, we are using our head. When we “feel” we are using our heart.

Your heart has all the answers. Pay attention to how you are feeling. When your head is aware of how you feel, then you can choose how you would like to deal with the situation. Making change this way is easier because you are doing it by choice and not because you feel you have to.
